Doulas

The CARE Network is a great place to look for doulas in the area and other individuals who are supporting birthing moms and families. This site also has other information on resources for pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. 

I have had the joy of working with many doulas in the area. Here are a few I have had the privilege to work with and get to know personally now highly recommend: 

 

Birth Classes

Well Rounded Birth Center offers an amazing 8 week birthing class course that prepares you and your partner to understand your birthing options, helps you prepare a birth plan, and gives you the tools needed to work towards having the birthing experience you desire. This is the class my husband and I took before the birth of our first son and could not more highly recommend it. The cost of this class is $250.

Authentic Birth Center offers a birthing class geared toward equipping mothers to have a unmedicated birthing experience. This class takes place at Authentic Birthing Center is 8 weeks long and the cost is $350 per a couple. 

Books

Ina May's Guide to Childbirth is a fabulous book written by a nationally known and loved midwife, Ina May. This book will equip you to understand what to expect from your birthing experience and prepare you with the tools you need to have the best birthing experience possible for the unique you. 

Ina May's Guide to Breastfeeding is another wonderful book from Ina May that prepares you for your journey in breastfeeding, teaches on the benefits of breastfeeding, and equips you with practical tools to help you have a good breastfeeding experience. 

The Birth Partner is a book written for dads, doulas, and anyone else supporting a mother through her birthing journey. This book equips these support people to know how to best ways to support a mother in the weeks leading up to labor, through labor and the early postpartum period, covering topics such as non-drug techniques for easing labor pains, breastfeeding support, and knowing the stages and the common needs at each phase of labor.
