Milwaukee Birth Story | Magnus Family

Amanda called me in the evening on Sunday Jan. 28th to tell me that her water had broken and thus labor was on its way. Within a few hours she began to have contractions. She labored at home throughout the night into the wee hours of the morning on the 29th.

Around 3am we all headed to the birthing center. This time around Amanda decided she wanted an unmedicated birth out of the hospital, choosing to birth at Authentic Birth Center in Wauwatosa. When I arrived Amanda was in the zone working through each wave as it came. Her husband, Brian, was being an amazing birth partner squeezing her hips through each contraction. Soon after getting Authentic, Amanda was ready to get into the tub to help her relax as the waves of labor grew more intense. Her husband was at her side throughout the entire birthing journey rubbing her back, squeezing her hips, and holding her close. Baby Porter was born at 7:15am and placed on his mama’s chest. They waited to find out the gender of their little one so it was quite an exciting moment when they found out they had a son! Porter is Brian and Amanda’s second born and little brother to their daughter Ella.

Amanda and Brian, you make an amazing team! It truly was an honor to capture your beautiful birthing journey. You have so much love in your hearts and are spreading that love with your little ones! I pray the love in your family continues to grow and to be contagious to all you come into contact with!

Hall Wedding

Every memory I have the opportunity to help capture is an amazing honor. It brings me so much joy. Seriously, I cannot explain to you how much of a privilege it is to capture people's biggest life moments and freeze them in time for them. It is particularlly special when it is people I dearly love.

Maggie and Lawton are good friends of Will and I. In our house I refer to them as "my favorites". Their love is beautiful. It is soft, tender, and genuine. Their love challenges me to love better, more fully and sacrificially. Each of them gives so much into their relationships with friends and family; they cherish people and treat them as such. This spills into their relationship with one another and together they are able to love people around them that much more.

Their day was absolutely beautiful. From the origami seat settings to the amazing flower arrangements, their artistic gifting was on full display. Her dress had an elegant vintage vibe with modern lines and both Maggie and Lawton had these awesome vintage coats. Their food was perfectly crafted, oh so delicious and was washed down by specially crafted blood orange Old Fashions. The best word I can find to describe their community is: texture. They were surrounded by absolutely beautiful people who have such amazing and varied personalities and hearts.

It was truly a wonderful day and an honor to capture. My prayer for you, Maggie and Lawton, is that your love grows ten fold and drenches all those you come into contact with. It is a blessing to know you. Cheers to the beginning of a great adventure!

Harvey Newborn Session

I am so excited to share this newborn session with you today! This family loves one another so well. As I reflect on this shoot and on this family the word "genuine" keeps coming to mind. From the moment I walked in their home there was a peaceful and welcoming spirit filling the room. The way they interact with one another is real and filled with a ton of love and genuine excitement to do life with one another. Harvey has come into this love fest and been fully engulfed by it - so much beauty here. It was truly an honor to capture this moment in time for this sweet family. Cheers to being a family of four! My prayer for you is that this genuine love you have for one another only grows and is infectious to those you encounter.
